Brownstone - Commercial & Residential Renovation

client analysis
The Gilroy’s inherited this gorgeous building on Newbury Street in Boston from Lee’s Grandfather who lived on the top floor and leased out the first two floors. Lee and his wife Stella have decided to open a boutique showcasing local designers on the first floor and move Lee’s already flourishing fine jewelry business to the second floor. They will take the 3rd floor down to the studs and reimagine the space to fit their needs and make it a comfortable retreat with ample storage.

project scope
The first floor will contain Boutique 22 which will be sleek and modern with an open and airy floor plan for customers to easily shop the custom pieces. The Gilroy’s wanted to incorporate black, gold, and teal for a glamorous look and feel. There will be 3 dressing rooms, a handicap bathroom, storage space and a break area for employees.  Gilroy Fine Jewelry will be located on the 2nd floor and will use a similar color pallet from the 1st floor, swapping out teal for a soft pink and the space will be more matte textures as to not take away from the jewelry. The space will contain built in displays for featured items, a coffee and champagne bar, private viewing rooms and a small onsite jewelry repair office. The top floor will be the living space that the couple wants to be cozy yet an elegant retreat with as much natural light as possible. Colors were chosen from nature such as green, tan and a lovely coral pink color mixed with a neutral white and black. Because the couple would like an office but also able to have a guest bedroom they decided to go with doors that let the light shine through to the living space additionally when the room isn’t being used by a visitor they are able to completely open up the space and make it one great sunshine filled room. The Gilroy’s also wanted to make sure that they had plenty of storage and built-ins in order to use the space wisely.
